INTENSITY

My ultimate goal in life is to live as Jesus would live if He were in my place. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. msg John 10:10

HUNGRY???

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Mark 10

When I'm hungry...I will do whatever it takes to be satisfied. I don't care what others think of me. My need becomes crystal clear. God desires to satisfy my hunger.

The real question is AM I HUNGRY???

Experiencing God - LISTEN ONLINE!

I, Simon Peter, am a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. I write this to you whose experience with God is as life-changing as ours, all due to our God's straight dealing and the intervention of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

2. Grace and peace to you many times over as you deepen in your experience with God and Jesus, our Master.

3. Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received!

4. We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you - your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.

5. So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding,

6. Alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder,

7. Warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others.

8. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus.

9. Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.

10. So, friends, confirm God's invitation to you, his choice of you. Don't put it off; do it now. Do this, and you'll have your life on a firm footing,

11. The streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 PeterExperiencing God is life changing.Experiencing God is developed.I choose whether or not I experience God.

09-14-08 Identity - LISTEN ONLINE!

I BECAME A CHRISTIAN AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRTIDENTITY

John 10:10

I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. msg

My purpose is to give life in all its fullness. Nlt

1 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power.

2 Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth.

3 For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 And when Christ, who is your real life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry.

6 God's terrible anger will come upon those who do such things.

7 You used to do them when your life was still part of this world.

8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

9 Don't lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old evil nature and all its wicked deeds.

10 In its place you have clothed yourselves with a brand-new nature that is continually being renewed as you learn more and more about Christ, who created this new nature within you.

11 In this new life, it doesn't matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

12 Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

13 You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

14 And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony.

15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

16 Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

17 And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3

My identity determines my outlook on life.

My outlook affects my behavior.

My behavior reinforces my identity.

My ultimate goal in life is to live as Jesus would live if He were in my place.

"A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher." Luke 6:40

On March 1st 2008 JCCC started letting the children and youth of the church preform their own Priase and Worship Service. We quickly pulled together a sound sytem, fired up the oldest video projector still in operation in the western himesphere, and gave the kids some microphones! And boy do they have fun! We call it the Kid Praise and Worship Service. They rock out and praise our Lord with contemporary music, some clasic hymns and alot of energy!

On April first we began our plans to convert and remodle our third theater in our building. By May 1st step one should be complete. In this step we are planning to add four 400 watt Metal Halide ware house lights and give the place a fresh coat of paint. We are also wrapping up a bunch of liitle stuff around the space. Keep checking back for updates!

This year James City Community Church will celebrate their 10th anniversary. God has been faithful in so many ways this past decade. As we look forward together to the year ahead we have much to be thankful for and much to be excited about.

Ahead of us over these next several months we find ourselves challenged by a giant God sized opportunity in the purchase of 6 acres of land.

We all face "giants" in life. Perhaps you are facing one personally right now. God places these "giants" in our lives for a reason, they always test our faith in Him.

The well known story of David and Goliath teaches us 3 things about facing "giants".

1. Remember the battle is the Lords - We are already on the winning team.

2. Never run away from a "giant" - When Goliath moved toward him, David ran to meet him.

3. Trust only in God - Trusting in our abilities or resources never brings glory to God.

This past Sunday, March 26th we began to run toward the "giant". We asked those attending our Service to join us immediately following the morning service and reconvene at the land in order to pray for God's will and provision. It was a short gathering that dedicated ourselves to God for the next 4 months.

Our next step toward the "giant" was a church-wide fast on the following Monday. As we fasted, each time the hunger growled, we prayed for God: to grow us into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, to give us the opportunity to reach the 75% unchurched of our community, and that God would provide the resources for the land, to help us meet our budget and that all that was done would bring Him honor.

Reaching Up - Pastor's Blog

Why is it so difficult to stay connect with God? Have you heard if you are not going forward you are going backwards? In my spiritual journey I have found that the journey is never static. It is always moving. I must make conscience choices that lead to a closer walk with God or I begin to drift. If I leave things to run on auto-pilot I find that I begin a downward spiral. Although I hate ritual, I have found that there are certain habits that are necessary for my spiritual growth. Two stand out as vital for a growing and upward journey.

They are Bible reading and Prayer. They sound simple and mundane. If you are like me my day can be over taken with pressing issues that often scream for attention. If I take the time to Pray and read my day seems to have a sense of order amidst the chaos. When I allow the urgent calls to override this ritual my day seems out of kilter and disjointed. I believe it is due to not staying connected to the source of our strength. Our lifeline is our relationship with God and when we forget to check in life gets out of control. I know I need a stabilizing force in my life. I have found it in daily praying and reading. That is just God's way, something so simple brings peace to an otherwise disjointed and chaotic life. Thank you God for always being with us even in the chaos. He is the source of our strength.

REACHING OUT, REACHING IN AND REACHING UP!

This is our focus for the year. Reaching out is how we keep ourselves sharp in our spiritual life. It is often the questions that are asked or the responses we receive from the unchurched that keep us sharp and more often than not on our knees. Jesus' mission concerns the meeting of needs around us. In our bible reading today, Matthew 10, Jesus sends the disciples out into their own neighborhood to reach the lost and hurting. He calls us to do the same. It seems the hardest ones to love are those closest to us. Yet, that is the measure of our relationship with Christ. How is our love life? I am so excited about what God has planned this year for our "team" or church. Will you become a part of his life change team to gather those outside of His kingdom to become a part of His family?

Begin by planning a Superbowl party to spread the love around. Start in your neighborhood, invite your friends to watch the game with you. You never know what God will use to change a life. It could be your "REACHING OUT" by throwing a party. Jesus' disciple, Matthew threw a party for his friends and guess who showed up. Jesus. He will show up at yours too.

WOW!!! I can't believe how fast life flies by. 2007 is gone and 2008 is beginning. What will the new year bring. Will it bring happiness or heartache? Sorrow or joy? How will I react to the difficulties and the joys that will come? No one knows what tomorrow will bring, yet we all hope for the best. We have very little control over our future. Yet, that is what we worry about the most. Only God knows what is ahead.

Will I draw closer to God or will I drift? That is really the most important and actually one of the only things I have complete control over. Will I choose to seek God in the decisions I make or will I rely on my own intellect? Will I spend time praying or wasting more time watching tv? What will I invest in this year? People or things. Always more questions than answers. I hope you will join me as we begin a journey into the unknown with our God who is all knowing.

I will trust in Him who is able to keep me from falling. So much for today.

I want to try something new this year, blogging. I don't know if it will last or if it will be valuable to anyone other than myself, yet I am going to try to keep you informed with where God is taking me this year. Hope you will find the journey interesting and useful in your own journey with God. Please send feed back so that I will know that you are out there. E-mail me at sam@jccchurch.com. Love to all and looking forward to growing with you this year,

Pastor Sam

LIFE'S TOO SHORT - TO BE SELFISH - Pastor's Blog

One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. Proverbs 11:24 Every one of us, at some point, has acted selfishly. If the truth of our lives were known, we would see that most of us are selfish most of the time. We don't like to give up what we think is ours-whether it is words, time, possessions, or money. We think that if we hold on tightly to whatever we have, if we are close-fisted, then we won't lose it. But God tells us differently. He tells us that what we have is not actually ours to keep. He wants us to give freely, to be open-handed. He wants us to be generous with what he has blessed us with. When we do that, when we give freely and willingly, God promises us that he will return our blessing beyond anything that we could imagine. Oftentimes, especially when it comes to money, we hoard over it trying to keep our eyes on every little bit. We don't want to give any of it up and we constantly worry about whether or not we can afford to do this or that. That anxiousness is just a symptom of being close-fisted. We need to exchange that feeling of anxiousness for a feeling of confidence. But the only way to gain that confidence is to trust in God and follow his commands. This week, trust that God will provide for you. Give what you have freely to others who may have a greater need. Whether it is words of encouragement, time, or money; give it joyfully and allow God's blessing to be poured into your life. Don't try to close your fist around everything in your life. Instead, open your hands and allow those blessings to flow freely from your grasp and into the lives of others.

The MISSION.

The Men's Ministry is a brotherhood of men who strive to become complete and balanced biblical men of God. Men who strive to help each other grow into Christ likeness. Men who strive to be men of integrity, men of intimacy, men of identity, and men of influence. This is more than just a ministry, it is a Band of Brothers who are ready, willing, and able to fight together, bleed together, and rejoice together.

JCCC Men's Ministry is a place where men can get together for encouragement, growth, accountability, and the tools necessary to move out into the community to do battle, and make a difference for the Kingdom of God.

Christlikeness is all about transforming your character, not your personality. God gives us our time on earth to build and strenghten our character for heaven. God is far more interested in what you are than in what you do.
