“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.  Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.   Matthew 7:24–25 NLT

1. YOU CANNOT BUILD A SECURE LIFE ON A CRUMBLING FOUNDATION

But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.  When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”   Matthew 7:26,27 NLT

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.   1 Corinthians 3:11 NLT

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.  In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.   Ephesians 2:19-22 NLT

2. A SOLID FOUNDATION IS NOT BUILT ALONE

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another...”     Hebrews 10:24–25 ESV

3. GOD CALLS US TO MOVE FROM HEAD KNOWLEDGE TO HEART LIVING

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”    James 1:22 NLT

4. A ROCK-SOLID FAITH REQUIRES A TOTAL COMMITMENT

“Give yourselves completely to God—every part of you—for you have been brought back to life, and you want to be tools in the hands of God, used for his good purposes.”     Romans 6:13 LB
